Daily Delights: What’s Delighting Me Right Now 7/22/13

So what are daily delights? Daily delights are the little things that make life worth living. Things that inspire. Encourage. Make Me Smile. Make Me Laugh. Make Things Rosier.

The happy little things, people, events, products, places and pieces of art that make the world a happier place to live in.

Are these things mind-blowing? Earth-shattering? Life-changing. Not usually. But they’re things that make me smile and, thus, make me want to share with you.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed them.

(These are usually pictures I post on Instagram of things that I’m loving at that exact moment. So if you want to get my daily delights on a daily, moment-by-moment basis, follow me on Instagram at @beautyfrosting)

1) A lovely, summer barbecue hosted by the beautiful Moll Anderson in Malibu. While the food and drink was delicious, the new friends I met were even more delicious!

2) The Sonya Dakar and Paleta #GetGlowingLA event at the Sonya Dakar Skin Clinic in Beverly Hills. With facials from Sonya Dakar Skin Clinic, delicious and health lunch and juices from Paleta, feathered brow sessions with Kristie Streicher Beauty Bar, manicures and pedicures from Nail Garden featuring wHet Nail polish and Scratch nail wraps, makeup applications from The Fairest Makeup Studio and more, there was endless pampering to be participate in!

3) A summertime pool party to celebrate the birthday ofMegan O’Brien of Meg’s Makeup? Amazing!! But a summertime pool party with some of favorite blogger friends. And, of course, party favors from some of our favorite skincare lines such as The Body Shop and Bikini Soft Oil. Too much fun! What a perfect summertime Sunday!

4) These layered necklaces that Sydne Summer of SydneStyle was sporting on Sunday. A heart (Stella and Dot) and a seahorse (Dogeared) – could anything be more summery?

5) This Georgetown Cupcake that I got as a favor for attending the Spaphile Night of Beauty at The Shore Hotel. Scrumptious, I tell you! And – in an attempt to be, um, healthier – I saved it for breakfast with tea the next day!

Honored To Attend: Boscia MutliMasking Event at American Tea Room

This past Wednesday, I had the utter delight and honor of attending an event that included two of my very favorite things: skincare and tea!

Skincare & tea? Why, thank you, Boscia and American Tea Room!

Boscia brilliantly coordinated their bestselling Boscia masks with the perfectly-suited teas and delicious desserts from the equally fabulous and healthy American Tea Room.

The cutest pairing of sweets & beauty treats I’ve ever seen!  I’d always wanted to try this tea haven in Beverly Hills and now I’m so in love that I’m determined to take my next meeting there!

American Tea & Boscia: the cutest combination ever!

It was an afternoon filled with MultiMasking. What’s that, you ask? Why, customized masks by Boscia designed to treat your skin concern on any given day. Check it out.

You want your skin to be purified? Boscia has  their Luminizing Black Mask ($34) to cleanse and brighen your skin while leaving you feeling less like an oil slick! It purifies your skin leaving you with an utterly glowing complexion. And – a side note – my neighbor, Cameron, swears by the stuff!

Among the many Boscia Products I was introduced to that I can’t wait to try?

Can't wait to try these products and more!!

Another thing I learned, it’s pronounced (pronounced Bow-shuh). I’ve been wondering – and mispronouncing that- forever!!

And you know what makes an afternoon of tea and beauty even better?

Sweet friends!

Friends and fellow bloggers at the Boscia Event at American Tea Room

Stay tuned for Thirsty Thursday where I’ll include my favorite American Tea Room recipe for summer! xoxo,

Whatcha’ Wearin’ Wednesday: Meg’s Makeup comes over to dish on Revlon Fall Faves for People.com

Happy Wednesday, beauties!
For today’s Whatcha’ Wearin’ Wednesday, I’m sitting down with Meg of Meg’s Makeup to discuss our favorite Fall Revlon products.

Meg called me up and said she’d like to have a little wine and dish a little on a few of her Revlon faves.
And that’s exactly what we did!
She came on over to The Cupcake Palace and we chatted about Revlon’s new PhotoReady Eye Primer Plus Brightener and Revlon Top Speed Nail Enamel.

Already on People.com, I had to share these great products with you guys!
Enjoy!

Dawn

High-Low 14: Sweet & Sleepy

This week was busy. It seems like each week gets busier and busier. Isn’t that the case?

But along with the “busyness” of it all, I am beyond grateful that there were some super sweet moments that made it a week to remember.

Highs

1) My little neighbor & dear friend, Lucy, celebrated her 4th birthday. To celebrate, she had a rockstar fete.

And I baked “Microcone Cupcakes” for the occasion. Get it? Pardon the Phil Dunphy-ness of that.

I’ll put up the recipe for “Microcone Cupcakes” as soon as I get a chance!

2) Attending the J.Haus fashion show was a treat!

A burlap gown!

A gown made entirely of corn!

So fun!

3) I made another batch of my Pink Lemonade cupcakes for my agents last Friday. I try not to eat my treats during the week but it was Friday so I had to try one. It was so delicious, y’all!

4) I had the pleasure of having Tea with Tarte Cosmetics and had the delightful thrill of getting to preview their Holiday ’12 Collection: Baby, It’s Bold Outside.

The candy-colored holiday products had me at hello. All pretty, powerful products that are a morsel of the cost of separate items.

Tarte Holiday Collection: "Baby, It's Bold Outside"!

And I got to see some of my favorite friends, Megan of Meg’s Makeup and my fellow Dallas girl, Roxy, of RedCarpetRoxy:

5) I finally played on Polyvore and oooooooh did I have fun!

I loved it so much that I started a Pinterest board based on my Polyvore-playing. That’s a lot of p’s! Check out BeautyFrosting on Polyvore and Pinterest to see what looks (fashion, accessories, jewelry, hair, makeup, oh my!) are inspiring me right now.

6) And lastly…I copyrighted my first kids books. One is a sweet-themed series and the other is a night-night book. They are my babies and I can’t wait for y’all to read them to your little darlings! Sorry there’s on pic of this so I’m using this one that Amy Opoka took for my BeautyFrosting shoot.

LOW

Tired. I am sooooooo tired. As much as I would love to sleep for a week, I’m off again next weekend to my best friend’s wedding in New Orleans. Sure to be a fun fete-filled weekend, I am also looking forward to sleeping in a few mornings! I have been going non-stop and even me, the Energizer Bunny, has to get my batteries charged sometimes!

Have a beautiful week, everyone!

xoxo,

BF

In-My-Tub-Tuesday: Leonor Greyl Masque Orchidee

You know how all the starlets, in all of those old 50s movies say “Oh, I can’t go out with you tonight. I’m washing my hair”?
And remember how what it really meant was simply, “I’m just not that into you”?

Well, last Friday night my fabulous friend Meg, over at Meg’s Makeup, asked me if I could go out and have some quality girlfriend time.

I reaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllly wanted to. I mean, Meg is the most fun and I always have the most honest, heartfelt conversations with that pretty lady. She’s a dear friend.

But, after a few weeks peppered with intense stress, I had committed to myself that Friday night would be ME-NIGHT!!

So, thanks to a deal on YipIt, I treated myself to an amazing massage at Sparadise and came back home to sink into the tub to finish GONE GIRL and have a glass of wine.

But even when I was supposed to relax, I knew I needed to do a little beauty maintenance. I mean why not be productive with all of that time spent relaxing?
What beauty ritual could I give myself?
Enter Leonor Greyl Masque Orchidee.

Leonor Greyl Masque Orchidee ($60)

That’s Orchid Mask, in French, to you non-francophiles.

And what a beauty ritual it was!
I left it on for my entire bath (about an hour and a half) and relished the rare solitude as well   as the buttery orchid scent of the mask.

Buttery orchid, conditioning goodness

After combing through with my detangling comb and rinsing it off in the shower, I could immediately tell that my hair was softer, fuller and more conditioned.

It rinsed out completely and easily and, after blowdrying, I was only left with soft, shiny, tangle-free locks with a hint of that subtle buttery orchid scent.

I had to learn more so I looked at Leonor Greyl’s website. One of their testimonials was from revered celebrity stylist, Chris McMillan.

Chris McMillan actually said,  “Leonor Greyl Orchid Mask transformed Jen’s hair. The weekly treatment works wonders on frizz.”

Y’all, he’s talking about JEN ANISTON there!!! Among the many stars who love Leonor Greyl are lovely ladies, Salma Hayek and Gwen Stefani. I knew I was in good company.

As I marveled at my own movie star hair, I remembered that Meg, herself, had turned me onto the product. Ah, the power of our subconscious.

All was right in the world.

BF

In-My-Tub-Tuesday: TrimStyle by Schick – The answer to your summer grooming beauty prayers

Listen, I know we’re all ladies here, I do.

And I know we like to keep things on a ladylike, pink, shiny, happy, glowing, smiley level here on BeautyFrosting…

but there is a product I simply must tell you about.

And it’s pretty personal.

Why? Because it works. It’s affordable. It’s fast. And, well, it’s cute.

Schick Quattro for Women TrimStyle (under $15)

Schick Quattro for Women TrimStyle (under $15)

I had tried Schick Quattro for Women TrimStyle a few years ago and looooved it!

But then I moved back to Los Angeles and left mine in Nashville and, embarrassingly, forgot about it.

So when I was invited to, my good friend, Meg’s (of Meg’s Makeup) house for a viewing party of Schick’s new sponsored series, Dating Rules From My Future Self, I was ecstatic when I opened the gift bag to find my beloved, forgotten TrimStyle!

I almost cried. Really.

How could I have forgotten this little jewel-toned gem that used to sit in my pink clawfoot tub in Nashville?

What have I been doing since its absence?

Well, we won’t address that last question as it’s, um, personal.

But I seriously don’t know how I could have forgotten this triumph of a trimmer, this regaled razor, this… you get the point.

My beloved Schick TrimStyle back where it belongs...in my Tub!

My beloved Schick TrimStyle back where it belongs...in my Tub!

So what about this little gadget makes me swoon? Let me count the ways:

1 ) It’s a trustworthy, dependable razor and nether region (bikini line) trimmer in one. A 2-in-1 treat as it has a 4-blade Quattro razor on one end and a trimmer on the other. Schick says it’s the only hair removal you’ll ever need!

2 ) It’s under $15 (cheaper than any bikini wax I know). This tool will do it all but I think of it as more of a maintenance tool between waxes. I can go 8-12 weeks without going to the salon with this little guy on my side.

3 ) It’s subtle so it looks like a razor but it’s a SPECIAL razor that can sit right out in your shower or tub with zero embarrassment.

4 ) The AAA battery is included, thank you very much, so you can start trimming away as soon as you get it home.

5 ) It seems to be foolproof and danger-free which is good because I can be a little klutzy. Note: PLEASE READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST.

6 ) It’s adjustable so everyone can use it as they wish. There is a comb attachment which is super easy to use!

7 ) As I mentioned before, it’s cute! It’s kind of like a beauty toy for ladies. I kind of feel like I’m 7 opening a Barbie when I bring it home. Is that too much information?

Go grab one for yourself and see if you get as excited as I do about it!

xoxo,

BF

p.s. Oh—and the show, Dating Rules for my Future Self? It was realllllly good! Like “I’m-going-to-keep-watching-it-on-youtube” good! Seriously. It’s like New Girl meets Gossip Girl meets Happy Endings. The whole party was totally invested in this show. We watched multiple episodes because we couldn’t wait to see what happened next. And the acting, writing, styling and set design was super cute, cool and impressive.

Tress Tuesday: Kerastase Confession

So, as I mentioned in Sunday’s High-Low 3 post, I had the most amazing Thursday last week thanks to Kerastase!

First, I was invited to be Kerastase’s guest at the gorgeous Young Hollywood Awards!

Just when I thought it couldn’t get better than that, I was invited to Rossano Ferretti for a primping Kerastase treatment-filled afternoon.

First, my stylist Salina applied the Kerastase Bain Cristalliste shampoo and conditioner. Cristalliste is known to make your hair shine like glass while being weightless as light. Would I like to try it? Yes, please!

Kerastase Cristalliste

I learned from Salina that Kerastase Cristalliste was designed specifically for long-haired young women, like me, who have complained to their hairstylists for years about weighed-down roots and dried out ends. The fairy-sounding Cristalliste “liquid light” complex is supposed to create the most sultry shine and weightless, lovely luminosity every time you wash your hair. If only Cinderella had been this lucky!

Next up, Salina applied the concentrated Bain Substantif Concentrate sprayed in my strands along with a dose of the Shine Pixilist for an extra dose of shine-infused repair.

Getting gorgified at Rossano Ferretti with Kerastase Paris

As for styling, Salina went with the Kerastase Mousse Substantive and Elixir Ultime for the ultimate in volume and shine.

Kerastase Styling Tools

Would the result live up to the hype?
YES!!!!!!!!!

My previously dull, dry, flat summer hair was artfully amped up (especially at the roots) and my hair surface had glass-like shine. I must confess that I am a Kerastase convert! No weighed down tresses here! Just a thick, voluminous, glossy-as-glass mane!

I love it when products do what they and say what they do! Don’t you?

And, as for the evening’s fun?

Well, here my hair is 5 hours later at the Young Hollywood Awards with “Best Scene-Stealer” Award recipients, Rico Rodriguez and Nolan Gould of ABC’s Modern Family:

Nolan Gould, BeautyFrosting's glossy hair and Rico Rodriguez at the Young Hollywood Awards

And the winners of Kerastase’s Young Hollywood Awards Sweepstakes who were flown out to LA, received Kerastase treatments at Rossano Ferretti and given a grand Young Hollywood experience:

The lovely Winners!

And I got to hang out with these lovely ladies! Notice that 7 hours later, my hair is still gleaming!

7 hours later with Megan & Kristen: Hair still shining!

Thank you, Kerastase, Young Hollywood Awards and Rossano Ferretti for a beautiful, shiny, starry Hollywood evening!

BF
