Saturday Social Hour: Angeleno Magazine Red Carpet Ready

Life has been so busy and my social schedule has been so packed that this is the first Saturday Social Hour I’ve done in a while.

I loooove being busy and having events to attend but I really miss sharing them with you guys!

This past week, I was delighted to attend Angeleno Magazine’s Red Carpet Ready event at the Montage Beverly Hills.

Angeleno Red Carpet Ready event

I sipped Nicolas Feuillatte champagne, caught up with friends, ate delicious nibbles provided by Montage Beverly Hills (including a veggie spread straight from the gods), was introduced to some new beauty brands and, most importantly, was pampered!

I met a new handbag line, Joseph Nicola, that I immediately fell in love with. As gorgeous as it is on the outside, the interior is even more exquisite.

I was delighted to try the new Acqua di Parma fragrance, Magnolia. Being the southern girl that I am, I was utterly delighted and giddy with glee!

I had a pr meeting in Beverly Hills right beforehand and no time for a touch up so thank goodness the beautiful babes of Blushington were on hand to polish me up!

Naked Princess was a new-to-me line and I am totally smitten. I can’t wait to try the products and let you guys know my thoughts! As a cruelty free & paraben free line, I have a feeling many of you are gonna be in love with this line. I swatted the gloss on my hand and was so happy to feel how comfortable and moisturizing it was.

My favorite eco-friendly tanning line, Vani-T, was there on hand applying tans, and Lashfully was busy applying luscious lashes!

As you can tell, it was a busy and beautiful night. As much as I would have liked, I couldn’t make time to experience everything. Unfortunately, this means I missed Brasilian Blow Dry Bar, Spa Montage Beverly Hills “Oscar Glow” treatment, Le Mieux light exfoliation, Leonor Greyl hair conditioning, Luna D’Oro manicure, Votre Vu cosmetics and DNA EGF Renewal mini facials.

I guess that means I’ll just have to pamper myself another time. And know what?

I don’t mind a bit.

Thank you for a pretty, pampering evening, Angeleno!

BF Asks: Have you tried any of the lines that were pampering us at the Angeleno party?

In-My-Tub-Tuesday: Leonor Greyl Masque Orchidee

You know how all the starlets, in all of those old 50s movies say “Oh, I can’t go out with you tonight. I’m washing my hair”?
And remember how what it really meant was simply, “I’m just not that into you”?

Well, last Friday night my fabulous friend Meg, over at Meg’s Makeup, asked me if I could go out and have some quality girlfriend time.

I reaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllly wanted to. I mean, Meg is the most fun and I always have the most honest, heartfelt conversations with that pretty lady. She’s a dear friend.

But, after a few weeks peppered with intense stress, I had committed to myself that Friday night would be ME-NIGHT!!

So, thanks to a deal on YipIt, I treated myself to an amazing massage at Sparadise and came back home to sink into the tub to finish GONE GIRL and have a glass of wine.

But even when I was supposed to relax, I knew I needed to do a little beauty maintenance. I mean why not be productive with all of that time spent relaxing?
What beauty ritual could I give myself?
Enter Leonor Greyl Masque Orchidee.

Leonor Greyl Masque Orchidee ($60)

That’s Orchid Mask, in French, to you non-francophiles.

And what a beauty ritual it was!
I left it on for my entire bath (about an hour and a half) and relished the rare solitude as well   as the buttery orchid scent of the mask.

Buttery orchid, conditioning goodness

After combing through with my detangling comb and rinsing it off in the shower, I could immediately tell that my hair was softer, fuller and more conditioned.

It rinsed out completely and easily and, after blowdrying, I was only left with soft, shiny, tangle-free locks with a hint of that subtle buttery orchid scent.

I had to learn more so I looked at Leonor Greyl’s website. One of their testimonials was from revered celebrity stylist, Chris McMillan.

Chris McMillan actually said,  “Leonor Greyl Orchid Mask transformed Jen’s hair. The weekly treatment works wonders on frizz.”

Y’all, he’s talking about JEN ANISTON there!!! Among the many stars who love Leonor Greyl are lovely ladies, Salma Hayek and Gwen Stefani. I knew I was in good company.

As I marveled at my own movie star hair, I remembered that Meg, herself, had turned me onto the product. Ah, the power of our subconscious.

All was right in the world.

High-Low 4

This week was one of the most fun – and busiest – weeks of my life!
But I made it through with a myriad of memories and a bunch of new beauty products to tell you about!

Here is my High-Low this week:
HIGHS

1) After missing Rhett Miller’s show in Hermosa last weekend (due to food poisoning), by big brother took me to Rhett’s show at The Troubadour last Monday. An amazing show and a memorable night!

 5) Harry Cohn, founder of Columbia Pictures, once said: “If you must get in trouble, do it at the Chateau Marmont.” Well, we didn’t get in trouble. But I did enjoy a fabulous afternoon there on Thursday with my brother, David, and my friend, Meg, of Meg’s Makeup. We were there to see the newest products from Tarte (fabulous, let me tell you!) and I dragged my brother along. He didn’t seem to mind…

6) A new discovery: Tarte Lipsurgence in Spirited. A retro-romantic orangeish-red – perfect for summer. More on that later this week!

7) I came up with a new recipe for pie: Avocado pie with Coconut Graham Cracker Crust, Tequila Whipped Cream and Toasted Coconut. Pie-Oh-my!!

LOW

I was feeling a little low one afternoon, last week, and received 2 not-so-nice comments on YouTube. One said “Nobody cares”. I took it a little too much to heart. But if that’s the lowest low of my week, I consider myself grateful!
