Getting ready to host the No Kid Hungry Back-To School Brunch for Influencers in LA tomorrow. *Custom No Kid Hungry Manicure by Note at Enamel Diction

We’re in an orange matchy-match mood over here at @TheCupcakePalaceLA today. But, ummm, Miss Ellie, can you puhleez get off my @HossIntropia dress for the @NoKidHungry Influencers Brunch I’m hosting tomorrow? No?

I’m a proud ambassador and advocate for No Kid Hungry because all kids need to be fed to be fueled to flourish. After all, breakfast and lunch should be a requisite for all, not just a luxury for a choice few.

If you’re interested in getting involved with @NoKidHungry, head over to www.NoKidHungry.org, where helping can be as simple as hosting a bake sale for the whole month of October, like I am, when Domino Sugar is matching registered bake sale donations dollar-for-dollar up to $75,000.

SO excited to raise awareness tomorrow with my editor, blogger, writer, host and actor friends!!

And, stay tuned for more ‘tails on my Bake Sale announcement. Hint! There may be a Texas element…

Love This Valentine’s Date Night Look As Much as I Love Frosting!

I love frosting. A lot.

Love this look more than frosting!

So, to say, I love this look – created with these products – as much as I love frosting means it’s super delicious.

Two of my faves one cake stand: Makeup & cake! *makeup details below/cakelet ℅ Beverly's Best Bakery

And just in time! It’s the perfect makeup look for your Valentine’s look this year!

And did I say how easy it is?

*On the eyes:

2) Charlotte Tilbury The Dolce Vita Luxury Palette ($52) – Apply the glitter shadow (bottom left) over the Amber Haze pencil.

3) Charlotte Tilbury Rock’N’Kohl Eye Cheat Iconic Liquid Eye Pencil ($27) -Apply in inner corners to brighten the eyes, making them appear wider and brighter! It’s also great to apply the lower waterline when you want to brighten the eye and make your defined lash line look even more defined.

4) L’Oreal Voluminous Miss Manga Volumizing Mascara ($7.99) – stretches those lashes from root to tip to extend and plump. Apply to top and bottom lashes.

*On the brows: 5) L’Oreal Brow Stylist Plumper ($8.99) – Brush it up and across!

*On the cheeks: 6) Jouer Cosmetics Luminizing Liquid Highlighter in Golden Light ($39) – applied on orbital bone and upper cheekbone

7) NYX Cosmetics Baked Blush in Passion ($7) – Apply under cheekbones and on apples of cheeks for a bronzed glow with a bit of peach.

I’m Featured on @LaurieBStyle today: What Style Makes Me Confident?

Finding our confidence as women is never easy.

I often feel like I was more confident at 6 than 36.

But I have really found my confidence in the last two years.

That’s why it’s such an honor and delight to be featured on Laurie Brucker Image Consultant & Stylist‘s LaurieBStyle.com today where I dished about what makes me confident. Here’s the rundown:

What makes me confident? Simply getting to enjoy being a girl - er - I mean lady. *Photograph by the uber-talented Dan Velazquez of Brown Rabbit Photography

Laurie: “Meet the delicious Dawn of BeautyFrosting! What makes her confident?”
Dawn: “There’s nothing more I love than being a girl. A lady. As such, I love wearing feminine frocks that call on my girly tendencies, pay homage to my southern roots and tip my hat to my 1950s-centered aesthetic. Plus, I love to throw in a little unexpected sexy 60s/70s bombshell when people least expect it. My mom always jokes that my life is one big game of dress-up and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Thanks so much, Laurie B Style!

BF’s Holiday Gorgeous Gift-Giving Guide: Butter LONDON Sparkle, Sparkle holiday sets

Butter LONDON‘s new holiday sets help you do what every good cotillion instructor tells you to do when you’re 13, “Girls, I want you to Sparkle, Sparkle, Sparkle!”

That’s right. Butter LONDON has one goal this holiday season and it is to help YOU sparkle, sparkle, sparkle.
How do I know this? Because their holiday collection is called “Sparkle, Sparkle”!
That – and the fact that I have been donning two of the tinsel-inspired holiday nail lacquers, Rosie Lee (on my toes) and Fairy Cake (on my fingers), during the debut of this holiday party season.

Butter LONDON's Sparkle, Sparkle Holiday Lacquer Collection #1 ($25)

I have been asked what I’m wearing numerous times and, as the lady I learned to be in cotillion, I gladly reply “Butter LONDON’s Sparkle, Sparkle holiday collection #1!”

I also love the Jack the Lad gorgeous green glittering polish in the Butter LONDON Sparkle, Sparkle Holiday Collection #2 as emerald green has been declared Pantone’s color of the year for 2013!

Butter LONDON's Sparkle, Sparkle Holiday Lacquer Collection #2 ($25)

Here’s another little ladylike tip from me to you:
Want a super easy & pocketbook-pretty holiday gift idea?

Buy a set each of the Sparkle, Sparkle Lippy (lip gloss) collection and the Sparkle, Sparkle lacquer collection and then play Santa! Give a set to your 3 best girlfriends or split ’em up and customize gifts perfect for your pickiest of friends.

By doing this, you’ll have anywhere from 3-9 gifts depending on how much you have in your budget to spend. Perfect gifts for your girlfriends or Secret Santa gifts!

Any girl, and a guy or two I know too, is sure to feel shiny and new with a little sparkle on their lips or toes.

After all, ’tis the season to compete with tinsel!

And, honey, we wanna win that competition!

xoxo,
BF

BF Asks: What is your favorite way to “sparkle, sparkle, sparkle” this holiday season?

Whatcha’ Wearin’ Wednesday? Pretty in Pink Glitter Mani

Happy early Thanksgiving, y’all! As we all start the cooking, baking and T’giving preparations, just remember this: Gratitude is gorgeous!!!
In honor of my birthday next Friday, I am sharing my fave nail-color-combo of this past year! I loved this nail so much! And I just know 5-year-old Dawn would have loved it too! So it’s the perfect post as I prepare for my 35th!
Enjoy!
*******
Last Wednesday, I got the most super girly mani and I loooove it!
Whatcha' Wearin' Wednesday? Pretty in Pink Glitter Mani

It brought out the 5-year-old in me and, I have to say, that’s pretty fun sometimes.

So what is this magical glittery mani potion?

Fun, fun, fun fingers!
Essie Neo-Whinsical (2 coats) with 1 coat of Essie A Cut Above

Whatcha’ Wearin’ Wednesday? Nami’s Nails – Taking The Bronze AND Silver

WWW: Nami's Nails

WWW: Nami's Nails

So, it’s a funny thing having a blog.

It’s a growing process, an adventure, lots of fun — and the best creative outlet in the world  for someone with as many interests as me!

One of my favorite things, since childhood, has always been coming up with names for products I love, recipes I create, Barbie dolls- heck – even nicknames for friends and pets.

So it’s pretty fun when I come up with a new idea for, you, my lovely BeautyFrosting readers.

From now on, when I try out a nail polish recipe, I’m gonna name it so we’ll have a reference point.

The first one I’m naming happens to be for my super-stylish friend, Nami’s nails. Remember her? She’s a frequent guest on WWW (Whatcha’ Wearin’ Wednesday)!

She came in a week ago with the most glittery, bronzed – and yet – sophisticated nails.

Nami makes any trend look like an instant classic.
This one was no different.

Since we all have Olympic fever, it only feels appropriate to call this Nami’s Nails-inspired Mani Recipe:
“Taking The Bronze AND Silver”

So just how did she achieve this sparkling look?

2 coats of Essie Ballet Slippers ($5) on the entire nail

Essie Ballet Slippers

+

2 coats of OPI Warm & Fozzie C08 ($6) on the tips

OPI Warm & Fozzie Nail Polish

+

1 coat of Essie Set in Stones (Luxeffects silver glitter nail polish)

Essie Set in Stones

“Taking The Bronze AND Silver”

And she added a little mint heart on the pinkie nail…but I’m gonna let that be her little secret!

Whatcha’ Wearin’ Wednesday: BeautyFrosting-themed nails

After being inspired by our WWW girl, Nami’s, nails last week, I decided to try a nail design perfectly painted for me.

So what could be better than BeautyFrosting-themed nails?

I took in my card to the salon and asked them to use it for inspiration.

BeautyFrosting-themed nails!

BeautyFrosting-themed nails!

Super fun!

I’m usually pretty classic when it comes to my nail color but THIS WAS FUUUUUN!!

The nail salon applied OPI in Go on Green and then dotted the polish with a french white standard polish.

A BF mani

I loved the result!
And, as an Essie Ballet Slippers & Splash of Grenadine devotee,I think this experience just may have opened me up to more fun nail design in the future.

I mean, why not?

xoxo,

BF Asks: What nail design are you dying to try this summer? Glitter? Lace? Sprinkles? Caviar? Spill it, sister!
