Getting ready to host the No Kid Hungry Back-To School Brunch for Influencers in LA tomorrow. *Custom No Kid Hungry Manicure by Note at Enamel Diction

We’re in an orange matchy-match mood over here at @TheCupcakePalaceLA today. But, ummm, Miss Ellie, can you puhleez get off my @HossIntropia dress for the @NoKidHungry Influencers Brunch I’m hosting tomorrow? No?

I’m a proud ambassador and advocate for No Kid Hungry because all kids need to be fed to be fueled to flourish. After all, breakfast and lunch should be a requisite for all, not just a luxury for a choice few.

If you’re interested in getting involved with @NoKidHungry, head over to www.NoKidHungry.org, where helping can be as simple as hosting a bake sale for the whole month of October, like I am, when Domino Sugar is matching registered bake sale donations dollar-for-dollar up to $75,000.

SO excited to raise awareness tomorrow with my editor, blogger, writer, host and actor friends!!

And, stay tuned for more ‘tails on my Bake Sale announcement. Hint! There may be a Texas element…

To celebrate my birthday with a mani from my favorite nail joint, Enamel Diction,  I had a checklist:

Well, check, check and check.

I present to you, Mani Monday: BEST. BIRTHDAY. MANI. EVER.

And, let’s not forget the matching pink and glittering gold ombré pedi.

No, I'm not bringing back Flashdance style. I was at pilates at Whole Body Method, thank you very much.

Thanks so much, Enamel Diction!! Y’all spoil me.

BF Asks: What would your “best birthday mani ever” checklist look like?

Mani Monday (a day late): The Killing Moon

Halloween manis don’t have to be SCARY!!! emoji

Just look at my gel mani this week, designed by my girl @noemihk at Enamel Diction !

I call it “The Killing Moon.” With the stiletto shape, it’s just enough wicked without being witchy.

BF Asks: What mani is haunting your nails this Halloween?

Mani Monday: The Newly Refined French Mani

I love me some nail art. It’s always fun, whimsical and unexpected.

But when it came time to decide what nail design Enamel Diction would adorn me with for my annual fall trip home to Dallas, I was a little reticent.

I wanted to keep it simple and classic (so Mom would approve), showcase the natural length of my once-bitten nails (that have plagued my mom for over 30 years) and add a little LA flair (because, well – hey! – that’s me).

This is what we – @DaniJean_W and @Mairanisnails and I – at Enamel Diction came up with. I call it The Newly Refined French Mani.

Upside Down. Boy, ya turn me. Mani Monday: The Newly Refined French Mani by @DaniJean_W & @MairanisNails of Enamel Diction (Jewelry 'tails: on the right hand, A.V. Max NYC ring and bracelets & Marcia Moran rings and bracelets on the left)

I wanted a classic french manicure with a twist. So a gold diamond-centered stud on the ring finger and a chevron-defined french mani with a band of gold seemed like the perfect compromise.

Now, what will the Enamel Diction girls and I come up with next?

BF Asks: What mani should I get for the spoooooookiest day of the year?

Mani Monday: The Thin Gold Line

Just another Mani Monday.
This week it’s back to gel manis. I need some super durability in my life!

I call this one…The Thin Gold Line by @Hyewon8803 at my new neighborhood nail salon, Enamel Diction.

With the nude and gold, it’s such a classic, chic and sophisticated minimalist mani. I’m only sad I only get to have it a week! Why, you ask? After all, Enamel Diction gel manis usually last 2 weeks. Welllll…I’m headed to the iHeartRadio Music Festival and I need my nails to match all the fun that I’m gonna have!!

BF Asks: What mani are you rockin’ this week?

Mani Monday: Blinged Lemon

Summer’s still here, folks. And that’s exactly what THIS mani says.

Mani Monday: Blinged Lemon

I call this look – “BLINGED LEMON” – visualized by me and designed by @fefethecreator at Zenii Skin and Nails on Melrose. She’s the queen of nail art!

So what is a “Blinged Lemon”?

Well, it’s a pale, PALE shade of pink with a french sliver of a tip of muted lemon and a cluster of swarovski crystals on the ring finger of each hand.

A slice of summer with a tinge of bling. Subtle and sweet with a bit of sass.

Thanks, Zenii!!

BF Asks: What mani are you rocking right now?

Mani Monday: Ganesha Ganache with Zenii

Last week, I had the pleasure of popping by Pop Your Shop hosted by Eventbrite LA and my dear friend, Harmonie Krieger.

With art, Veev cocktails, cupcakes, a braid bar by Assembly Salon and much more, this was one heck of an evening!
But the biggest treat of all? Super luxe and lovely nail art and manis by Zenii Skin & Nails.

Mani Monday: Ganesha Ganache by Zenii Nails

I already had a pink and white design but they freshened it up and added a little fancy flair on the ring finger that totally reminded me of Ganesha…hence the name, Ganesha Ganache!

I hope this slice of sweetness can inspire your mani this week!

BF Mani Monday Recipe: Neopolitan Nights

What do you get when you invite me to an ice cream social AND I have a manicure scheduled that day?
Why, an ice cream-inspired manicure, of course.

Here’s this week’s BF Mani Monday Recipe!

BF Asks: What manicure are you rocking this week?

BF Mani Recipe: Maleficent

Happy first Monday of June, beauties!

Last week, I decided to match my manicure to my dress for the Step Up Inspiration Awards (more details on that on Wednesday) and ended up finding myself with a verrrry Maleficent manicure just in time for the opening of the movie. Coincidence? I think not.

I guess I just needed to get in touch with my wicked side a bit and the mani was the way it came out.

The wicked conspirators: Essie Nail Polish in Olé Caliente and Dare To Wear Nail Polish in Black Velvet

Here’s the scoop.

BF Mani Recipe: Maleficent

2 coats of Essie Olé Caliente

2 coats of Dare To Wear Black Velvet (painted as border around the nailbed)

Wicked summer fun!!!

BF Asks: This summer, are planning on being wicked or wonderful

Mani Monday: The Perfect Palm Springs Mani

Mani Monday: The Perfect Palm Springs Mani

Listen, I have to tell you something up front. The mani you see pictured here was directly inspired by my good friend, Kirbie Johnson of PopSugar’s Olive And June mani for Coachella.
Yep, I ripped her off. I plagarized her nails.

But, I mean, COME ON!!!
How could I not when I was invited to one of my favorite fellow blogger Kelly GoLightly’s Flamingo Fiesta with L*Space Swimwear? So I headed to Pampered Hands on Melrose and prettied up my paws.

Prettying up my paws at Pampered Hands with a palm tree! How fabulously festive!

I opted for a little personalization with a punchy peach Essie polish and gold french mani with a palm tree on the right ring finger and a flamingo on the left. I was especially excited about the flamingo art because our hostess-with-the-mostest, Kelly, loves her flamingos.

Look! My polish matches the stitching on my L*Space swimmie cover-up!

So while I’m not a super craftsy girl when it comes to my nails – and I sadly can’t exactly tell you how to do this mani – I urge you to take these pics to a nail salon (or talented friend) who is known for their nail art.

After my mani, I felt 100% Palm Springs-prepared.
