I’M LOVING…Plummy Bronze Eyes & Nude Glossy Lips

When the winter comes rolling around, we often turn to bold, burgundy lips and cateye liner.
But with LA still holding sunny strong in the low 90s, I’m feeling more sizzling summer goddess than ice queen.

Someone's a little cynical of this so-called "autumn" we in LA are in the midst of.

To stay true to the season that makes me feel sexiest (um, summer) and yet welcome the colder months that the rest of the country is experiencing, I’M LOVING…Plummy Bronze Eyes & Nude Glossy Lips.

Smoky plum quartz eyes? Check. Defined glowing bronze cheekbones? Check. Glossy, butterscotch lips? Check check.

It’s J.Lo with a bit of Catherine Zeta Jones, and I’ll take both of these goddesses for muses, thank you very much.

Bonus? These featured products are all under $10. And I didn’t even plan on that. They’re just seriously my cosmetic crushes of the moment.

Easy winter beauty in under 5 minutes

Here’s how you do.

The culprits of this glam, glossy, seductive look

1) Apply shadow primer of choice (my fave is Urban Decay).

2) Apply Pixi Beauty Mesmerizing Mineral Palette in Plum Quartz ($12). There are 6 shades so you can pick your poisons. I stuck with the lightest shade for a base and the darkest shades for my crease, lid and lower lash line. 6 shades for $12? Sugar, I smell a deal.

3) Apply L’Oreal Paris Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner ($8.99) in Pure Purple in the waterline of both the upper and lower lashes. It lasts for up to 16 hours, so you can cause some trouble with this guy on your eyes.

4) Next up? My faaaaavorite mascara of the moment: L’Oreal Paris Miss Manga Mascara ($7.99). It beats all of the high-end brands in my book right now. I cannot get enough of that Flexor brush that paints and pumps up my lashes from root to tip. It says it boosts them 15x, but I’d say more like 50x!

5) After applying your favorite hydrating tinted moisturizer (to combat that pesky winter dry skin) and concealer, don’t forget the blush! The trick here? Well, my darlings, I used two! Both are NYX Cosmetics and only $7 buckaroos, but I used one, Passion for a pop of color, while I used Solstice Baked Blush ($7) for a medium tan with pink sheen. That’s become my new favorite blush, replacing those staple, shimmery blushes that shan’t be named. It leaves you with that gorgeous Malibu Barbie bronzed pink cheekbone that we all crave.

6) For lips, I lined the lip lightly with my favorite nude liner (Chanel Brown Copper) and then did a 1-2 nude perfect pout punch. I started with NYX Cosmetics Butter Lipstick in Sugar Wafer ($6) and then added some glam by glossing it up with my new must-have gloss, Mark Cosmetics Total Kiss Up Hook Up Plumping Gloss in Revel ($10). Now, there’s a name for you! Why is Mark so sure you’re gonna hook up in this gloss. Wellll, as someone who has, I blame the nonsticky, high gloss sheen. And the milk chocolate meets dark cocoa seductive scent certainly doesn’t help you be less resistible.

With Halloween upon us today, right now, I’m loving…Black on Black.

Here are my black-hearted (and packaged) faves today:

1) The black and white 5×7 rug I scooped up at Marshall’s Preston Center in Dallas for only $59!

2) As always, let’s start the makeup with the important stuff – the brows. The L’Oreal Brow Stylist Sculptor ($8.99) lets you draw, shape and sets brows in seconds. And they’re just perfect for creating those bold brows this Halloween.

3) These Shoe Dazzle black, taupe and vanilla pumps. If you’re a shoe lover, Shoe Dazzle really is the best thing going! You get shoes monthly for only $39.95! Boot-lovers bliss this season. While these guys are no longer available, they’ve got TONS of other hauntingly sexy choices!

4) Immunocologie Vital Mist ($65) is truly innovative because its a mist whose ingredients actually work symbiotically with the body’s immune system. The first of its kind! (And, um in the spirit of things, how sci-fi is that?)

5) Urban Decay All Nighter Eyeliner ($20) truly lasts all night but it’s also movable enough initially to smudge, smoke or line that inner waterline. Perfect for that Halloween masquerade ball tonight.

6) Boscia Luminizing Black Mask ($34) – Now, while you might look like a monster when you apply this mask, the results are anything but. This groundbreaking, mineral-rich mask peels off to deliver powerful detoxifying, purifying, and brightening effects. Not spooky at all.

7) Tattoo Junkee Glam Stamp ($8) is perfect if you’re feeling a little frisky and fun, but don’t feel like donning a whole costume shebang. They come in skulls, hearts and butterflies, but my fave right now is the star stamp – so much so, that I took it to my friend Jenn’s party last month and made everyone stamp one on. We were Jenn’s stars! And, yes – as a matter of fact, this did include the boys.

8) The benefits of Biodara Cell Refresh Face Serum ($68) might sound like a horror movie plot, but don’t let that scare you! While it does stimulate cell tissue regeneration, it also refined skin tone and texture, reduces inflammation and absorbs to a luminous matte finish that leaves your skin velvety soft, smooth and rehydrated.

9) Benefit They’re Real Push-Up Liner ($24) lets you channel your inner Hollywood scream queen with its innovative, waterproof, jet black lash-hugging gel liner pen that lasts for 24 hours.

Cosmetics collections for summer can be hit-and-miss. But Bobbi Brown’s summer collection has been right on the money, year after year after year. So much so that Bobbi devotees, like me, look forward to this every summer with bated breath – as it truly means summer is in full swing.

Bobbi’s Surf & Sand collection this year is no exception.

These products are truly among my top Must-Haves for Summer ’14. Right now, I am loving – and living in – her Surf Eye Palette, from her Surf & Sand collection, which contains eight shimmering, sandy eye shadows – as well as a few shimmering pastel shades that simply had to be inspired by ocean waves. It is truly the perfect mix of a neutral eye with a pop of shimmering, sea-foamy color. And at $65, these luxe palettes go fast so go and get em and get golden!

Then there’s the eyeliner. Oh, you guys. I think it’s as magical as a mermaid. Now, I think we all know my beautylosophy that everyone needs a Bronze liner – whether it be for eyes or lips, or in my case, both. Well, with Bobbi’s NEW Long-Wear Eye Pencil ($24) in Bronze from her Surf & Sand collection, I have found my newest must-have multitasking product. It has the perfect mix of neutral color with that light-reflecting shimmer and pigment I crave. Seriously, one pencil to keep in your beach bag that covers you for both eyes and lips? Yes, please.

As for cheeks, the Bronze Brightening Blush ($45) features three bars of pearlized pigments which creates a perfect sunkissed glow for day or night. Not a bronze fan and prefer pink cheeks? Bobbi’s Pink Brightening Blush still gives you that pearlescent glow with a pretty, pink flush. Either way, your cheeks will look as sunny as you feel.

And, lastly, the lips. Bobbi’s Limited edition Sheer Lip Colors ($26) are perfect for summer with their lightweight formula that saturates lips with a gentle wash of color and a nourishing shine. The 4 sun-loving shades this year are Sunlit Pink (a sheer bronze with a hint of pink), Peach Sorbet (a shimmering peachy coral), Pink Taffy (a pale sandy pink) and Summer Nude (a true be achy nude). Again, try lining your lips lightly, after applying lip color, with the Long-Wear Bronze eyeliner for more of a defined lip. Because who says that liner has to be just for eyes? It really is my favorite hue for lips!

With these mermaid-worthy, pretty products, you’ll be beach-beautiful in no time flat. Which is just the way Bobbi likes it.
