Thirsty Thursday: Pampadour Summer Sangria

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of attending the “Be Parisian For A Day Event” hosted by Fournier PR. While eating macarons (yes, I’m serious)…

Macaron heaven at Be Parisian For A Day

and getting to know all of the new beauty products I’m destined to be in love with –

Being, well, Parisian...or at least trying to be...

 I spotted this:
PAMPADOUR. SUMMER. SANGRIA.

Pampadour Summer Sangria

So what is this sangria-making “Pampadour“, you ask? Well, I asked the same thing…and then I promptly signed up and became obsessed. It’s a social platform for beauty. Need more details? Here you go:  If Facebook married Pinterest and it was a marriage based solely on a love of beauty then you would have Pampadour. And luckily we do. By the way, that sounds divine, doesn’t it?
I’ve played a bit on Pampadour and let me tell ya – it is ADDICTIVE!!
But back to their sangria. It was delish and they were nice enough to send me the recipe.
It’s a refreshing warm weather beverage that’s just dying to be enjoyed with friends!

Summer happiness - also called Pampadour Summer Sangria - in a cup

Pampadour Summer Sangria:
1 bottle White Wine ( Pino Blanc or New Zealand Sauvignon – I personally prefer the $3.99 Espiral Vinho Verde from Trader Joe’s!)
1/2 c Brandy
4 c Club Soda
Sliced Plums, lemons, limes, strawberries, apples, tangerines
Serve chilled on Ice.

Thirsty Thursday: Watermelon Punch in Watermelon Bowl

Thirsty Thursday: Martha Stewart's Watermelon Punch and Bowl

What could be more refreshing in summer than this??

It screeeeeeams summertime! And it’s super easy to boot!

Watermelon Punch and Bowl
Hollowed watermelon becomes a rustic serving bowl for a drink made with its juice, ensuring nothing goes to waste.

Ingredients

  • 1 oblong seedless watermelon (about 14 pounds)
  • 3 cups seltzer

Directions

  1. Cut top third off watermelon; trim bottom just enough to make a flat surface. Scoop out flesh.
  2. Working in batches, puree watermelon in a food processor. Strain through a fine sieve; discard solids. (You should have about 9 cups juice.) Cover rind with plastic wrap. Refrigerate juice and rind until chilled, about 1 hour. Combine juice with seltzer; transfer to rind.

Foodette Friday: CeCe’s (BF’s Mom) Fruit Pizza

As many of you know, I was home in Dallas last week. Nothing announces summer like the town you grew up in. Am I right?

Mom CeCe making fruit pizza

So imagine my delight when I arrived home to find my brother’s and my (thanks to him) friends from college and my mom’s (CeCe, as we will refer to her here) fruit pizza at our pre-Memorial day weekend bbq. My mom is the maestro behind many of my favorite dessert symphonies but this one is the most kid-friendly, crowd-pleasing hit!

CeCe's (BF's Mom's) Fruit Pizza

Now, just so you know…Mom made THIS (see above) aaaand her Better Than Robert Redford Surprise dessert for our big bbq. And, let me tell you, they are both better than Robert Redford! And I loooooove some Robert Redford (both the man AND the dessert)!

Without further ado (because we know I can offer plenty of that), here is CeCe’s Fruit Pizza recipe.

CeCe’s Fruit Pizza

Preheat oven to 350.

Set out butter and cream cheese to reach room temperature.

Ingredients:

1 roll sugar cookie dough (cut into 1/4 in slices and laid onto pizza or round pan)

1 block Cream Cheese

1 stick (1/2 c) Butter

1/2 to 1 cup powdered sugar

1 tsp Vanilla Extract

FRUIT!!! (Sliced strawberries, grapes, kiwi, cherries, but bananas need to be sprinkled with lemon juice first so they won’t turn brown – and any other fruit your family loves)

Directions:

Lay raw cookie dough slices in 12″ pizza (or round) pan or 13×9″ baking pan.

Bake at 350 for 12 to 18 minutes (baked completely but not brown).

Set aside to cool.

While baking, mix together cream cheese, butter and vanilla.

Once cookie crust has cooled, spread cream cheese “pizza filling” onto cookie crust.

Top your pizza with fruit. Either by adding one type of fruit per slice (for the more picky eaters) or creating rings of fruit on the pizza.

Dot with Orange marmalade (or jam of your choice) and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

TAH-DAH!!!! FRUIT PIZZA for friends!

Chaos!! Love it!

Hope y’all enjoy it as much as we always did!

Thirsty Thursday: BeautyFrosting’s Green “Beauty Cobbler” Smoothie

Mmm, Mmm, Mmm.

Are y’all in for a treat?

And a treat that’s healthy for you and beautifying, to boot?

Well, here’s a recipe that I make almost every day. And everyone who tries it LOVES IT!
Adults, kids, everyone.

BeautyFrosting's Green "Beauty Cobbler" Smoothie

I gained some extra pounds a few years ago and drinking this little beauty every morning helped me take off about 25 lbs!

I realized I just needed a breakfast that was fast, easy and, most importantly, DELICIOUS!
It totally gave me something to look forward to in the morning.

Now, I drink one every weekday. And my skin glows and the weight goes! It’s magic, I tell you. Or, um, just nutrition.

Love that. Try it for yourself and tell me what you think.

And, NO, you CANNOT taste the spinach. Spinach is the magical ingredient!

BeautyFrosting’s “Beauty Cobbler” Smoothie

1 c. Pineapple Juice

2 ice cubes (more if you like a thicker/icier smoothie)

7 frozen peach slices

7 apple slices (I buy the refrigerated & bagged produce kind)

1 c. Spinach (or more, if you like)

1 scoop Body Factory Protein Powder (it tastes like cake batter! Yum!)

1 tsp (or more if desired) Cinnamon

1 graham cracker or 1 tbsp. graham cracker crumbs (this gives it the “cobbler” taste)

Optional but recommended: 1 tsp flax seeds and 1 Tbsp. Thermogenic Oil

Blend pineapple juice and ice until smooth. Add peaches, apples and spinach.

Blend thoroughly.

Add protein powder, cinnamon, oil and flax seeds.

Blend until smooth.

Serve in a lovely glass with an apple wedge and a colorful straw.

That’s the BeautyFrosting way, at least.
