Friday Favorites: Hey Honey!

Hey, Honey!
Well, now aren’t you the sweetest?

Hey Honey…you sweet talker, you.

Hey Honey…you sweet talker, you.

I thought you were just a sweet-talker, but then I tried you, over Memorial Day weekend, and my-oh-my!

Your honey exfoliating mask applied super easily and gently exfoliated my skin in minutes flat. Although, I must admit…I was inclined to keep you on a few minutes longer, what with my book and vino right there at my left hand.

All I know is I’m plumb smitten with ya, honey, because you left me with smooth, clear, glowing younger looking skin, and as buzzed off you as I was off of my Cabernet.

Buzzed, but not just from the wine! That Hey Honey mask has got me feelin' goooood...

Thirsty Thursday: Olivina Milk & Honey Collection

Thirsty Thursday: Olivina Milk & Honey Collection

I once had an old boyfriend who loved the smell of a honey & milk body wash more than anything…and I loved the scent on him. It smelled like honey and cream and baby freshness. I used to just curl up in that sweet smell…but I digress.

To both of our dismay, the company discontinued it unexpectedly.  I looked for it everywhere to no avail.

Well, I was slathering on Olivina Milk & Honey Hand & Body Lotion the other day and that same ex was here (don’t get excited, now, were BFFs now – no funny business). But both he and Miss Ellie (my pup) smelled the lotion and they did a double take. See, it reminded us all of his old, beloved body wash.

As for me, it’s the perfect lotion to apply right before bedtime as it reminds me of a warm cup of cream tea with honey…and misty, watercolored memories, of course. Plus, with shea butter, olive oil and grape seed extract, it richly hydrates my skin leaving me silky, smooth and velvety. Perfect for drifting off to dream…

In-My-Tub-Tuesday: Beecology Moisturizing Lavender with Bergamot Body Wash

As you guys know, I looooooove small businesses! The businesses that give it their all and put more love into their products than many people possess in their little fingers are what really inspire me.

Beecology is a new discovery of mine – a line developed by husband and wife beekeepers, Amy and David. They wanted to find a resourceful, innovative way to repurpose their excess beeswax and support their beekeeping family and, thus, Beecology was born.

Beecology Moisturizing Lavender with Bergamot Body Wash ($8.99)

If you have sensitive skin, this is a skin winner! It’s a super gentle cleanser that’s sulfate-and-preservative-free and is made with the aforementioned beeswax as well as virgin hemp oil and aloe. It does the job of cleansing without stripping the skin of vital, nourishing oils.

And while I was expecting an overwhelming scent of honey, lavender and bergamot, I was pleasantly surprised by the delicate scent that it imparted. It was less like tubtime and more like teatime!

I urge you to try this small beauty biz out for yourself. With a broad selection of eco-friendly, natural bath and body products including beeswax lip balm, shampoo, conditioner and body wash, they also manufacture two paraben free honey hand and body creams and moisturizing bar soaps. They can be found in about 150 stores in the US, Canada and online sites including, BeautySage.com

Another reason I’m a big champ of this bee-based beauty brand? They follow the Paul Newman philanthropic principle that I adore so much. They donate 10% of their net profits to their consumer’s charity of choice. Each supported product contains a charity code. After the purchase, consumers can visit Beecology’s charity web site, wwww.sweetyear.org to enter the code and designate to which charity their percentage should be donated.

As sweet as honey, this company is!

In-My-Tub Tuesday: Back-to-School Beauty Bath with L’Occitane

What’s better at the end of a long, hard day at school than a long, hot, bubbling bubble bath?

Bathtime! (Photo by Amy Opoka)

A long, hot, bubbling bubble bath that smells of and nourishes with HONEY!!!

Honey in My Tub: L'Occitane Bonne Mere Gentle Body Wash ($34)

With its natural honey scent and softly bubbling formula, L’Occitane Bonne Mere Gentle Body Wash in Honey is a treat at any age.

Its luxuriously buttery, creamy texture is the perfect nighttime formula to send you off to sleep with a song. And you can rest easy knowing that the hypoallergenic formula is safest for the most sensitive of skin and has been thoroughly tested by dermatologists.

While it is a body wash, I love adding a few pumps to my bath while it’s running. The honey-scented, lightly foaming bath is just what I need to sink into at the end of a long day.

Perfect for the student hard at studying, the professional hard at work – or – the mom hard at mommying who just needs a mini vacay at the end of a long day.

Grab a book, sink in, inhale the honey fumes deeply and relaaaaaaaaaax.

Thirsty Thursday: White Wine recommendation (ooh-la-la!)

Espiral Vinho Verde $3.99 (!!)

I am a red wine lover. It’s my spirited beverage of choice (just see the pic of me in the bathtub in my gallery). But sometimes in the lovely city of Los Angeles, it gets hot -especially with a lack of air conditioning – and chilled, white wine is the only way to quench a parched palate.

So, imagine my delight when I found a CHEEEEAP white wine that I loved!
That is the case with the $3.99 bottle of Espiral Vinho Verde that my sweet neighbor-friends brought me for my Easter dinner. Its crisp, light, refreshing and slightly effervescent taste was just what the 80-degree weather wanted.

And then that tart green apple bite with a drizzle of honey? Deeeeelish!!

It reminds me of a tame, less sweet Green Apple Jolly Rancher. And, y’all, that’s a good thing.

I imagine it would pair delightfully with summer tapas such as ceviche, vermont white cheddar, goat cheese and/or red bean dip. But I’m not a wine expert.

I just know what I like.

And, honey, I like this. I like the taste and I looooove the price!

Head on over to your nearest Trader Joe’s and grab a bottle for your next dinner party!
