Thirsty Thursday: The East End

As we segue from summer into fall, it can be a bit challenging to find just the right balance of tastes for a late summer/pre-autumn cocktail. Citrus cocktails alone seem too reminiscent of early summer while the pumpkin, apple and cinnamon cocktails of fall seem a little premature.

That’s why I’m loving this custom cocktail – The East End –  from Hooray Henry’s (LA’s newest nightclub to see and be seen) and master mixologist, Curtis of Blacklab.

The East End - both sweet AND spicy!

With elements of both sweet and spice, it will leave you feeling ooooooohhhhh-sooooo-nice!

THE EAST END
2oz Corzo Silver Tequila
1oz lime juice
1oz pineapple juice
.75oz habanero syrup
house made chili salt rim
shake/strain into a rocks glass

Thirsty Thursdays: BeautyFrosting Dreamsicle Party Punch

Who doesn’t love a good party punch?

I mean, really.

Punches were huge in the 50s and 60s, big in our college years (memories of Everclear & Koolaid just flashed through my mind and made me cringe) and then, after a few showers and weddings, they sadly disappear for most of us.

Well, in the world of BeautyFrosting, my world, punches are well and alive…and thrive.

There are some things that never should have gone by the wayside and punch is one of them.

And I have many-a-punch-recipe for you.
If you have an event coming up and need a suggestion, just drop me a note and I will give you some tasty options.

Here is my super-easy, super-loved creamy, dreamy party punch.

Perfect as a spirited or non-alcoholic beverage option, you absolutely cannot go wrong with this.  This recipe can be made as nonalcoholic (for kiddos and family-friendly parties), with rum (for spirited affairs) or with rum on the side to pour in (to suit both occasions). Enjoy, beauties!

Enjoy (And please drink responsibly if adding spirits)!

Thirsty Thursday: I’m passionate about Paula’s Passionate Punch!

While visiting my hometown of Dallas, I stumbled across this delightful recipe on a lovely Dallasite’s blog – Dallas Duo Bakes: A Food Blog

It’s too good not to share! Thanks to Lauren and to her mother-in-law, Paula for sharing this recipe with the rest of us!

Can’t wait to try it out! Sounds like summertime to me!

Via our friends at Dallas Duo Bakes: Paula's Passionate Punch

Paula’s Passionate Punch
Ingredients
1 large (6 oz.) strawberry Jell-O
2 1/2 cups sugar
1 large can (48 oz.) can orange juice
1 large can (48 oz.) pineapple juice
1 can frozen passion fruit concentrate
1 pkg. pink lemonade Kool-Aid
Ginger ale
Fruit for garnish
Directions
1. Dissolve Jell-O into 4 cups hot water.
2. Bring 2 1/2 cups sugar and 2 cups water to a boil. Add the juices, Kool-Aid and 1 1/2 – 2 quarts water. Freeze mixture in a large container.
3. When ready to serve, let mixture thaw so that you can scrape out slush. Pour ginger ale over slush in individual glasses and serve.
* Note – the slush takes the place of the ice.
