Thirsty Thursday: Super Bowl-ready Fizzy Football Punch

Last week, we featured a Super Bowl punch for the gents but this week, we’re all about the ladies with this sweet punch.
Well, actually, the gents might like this too.

Regardless, between the Super Bowl Beer Punch and this Fizzy Football Punch, we’ve got ya covered!

Fizzy Football Punch

Serves 10

Ice cubes
One 750-milliliter bottle dark rum
16 ounces apple juice
10 ounces sweet vermouth
5 ounces freshly squeezed lemon juice
5 ounces freshly squeezed orange juice
Two 25.4-ounce bottles chilled sparkling apple cider
2 apples, cored and sliced

1. Fill a large punch bowl halfway full with ice cubes. Add the rum, apple juice, vermouth, lemon juice, and orange juice. Stir with a pennant from your team of choice.

2. Add the sparkling apple cider, but in a sustained drive, not in a sprint (meaning, slow and steady wins this game), and the apple slices. Stir well. Serve in punch glasses, mugs, or little plastic footballs.

Thirsty Thursday: Super Bowl Beer Punch

SuperBowl Beer Punch

Now, what’s more Super Bowl than beer? Nothin’, I tell ya.

So how can you appease the attractive boys in your life while satiating the sassy ladies?
Beer punch, my friends.

Its main ingredient is beer but the citrusy lemon lime keeps the mood light and fizz high.

So whatcha’ waitin’ for? Ten-hut!!

SUPER BOWL PUNCH

Makes 6 servings

Ingredients:

  • 4 bottles of your favorite beer
  • 2 cans Sprite
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • Citrus slices for decoration
  • Ice

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, combine all ingredients. Ladle into glasses and serve with ice.

Thirsty Thursday: Southern Comfort Punch

In honor of the Big 12 showdown this season, I thought I’d honor some of my favorite southern schools by showcasing this Southern Comfort Punch from the magnificent Martha Stewart.

Martha’s Southern Comfort Punch

  • 6 lemons
  • 4 navel oranges
  • 2 six-ounce frozen lemonade, concentrate
  • 1 six-ounce frozen orange juice, concentrate
  • 2 liters lemon-lime soda
  • 1 liter Southern Comfort

Directions

  1. Line two baking sheets with plastic wrap, and set aside. Slice lemons into rounds as thin as possible. Arrange lemon slices in layers on one prepared baking sheet. Repeat with oranges; layer on second baking sheet. Place in the freezer for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, until fruit slices are frozen.
  2. Just before serving, open the cans of frozen lemonade and orange juice, and place the frozen concentrates, whole, in a large punch bowl. Add the soda, Southern Comfort, and several handfuls of ice. Remove frozen fruit slices from freezer, and arrange over the top of punch. Serve immediately.

GO TEAM!!!!
