Lulu DK For Clinique Launch Luncheon

Spring in a basket.

Spring in a basket. The Lulu DK for Clinique Launch Luncheon

Yep, that’s what Clinique is giving us with the new launch of their Lulu DK collaboration.

I was lucky enough attend an influencers’ lunch at the home of Lulu DK designer, Lulu deKwiatkowski, celebrating the seasonal collab. Inspired by the Bahamian flowers that adorned her straw tote as a child, Lulu’s free-spirited and playful design shines through on the cosmetics bag and clutch, drenched in sunny yellow with bursts of bright pink.

With catering by Joan’s on 3rd, a freely-flowing bar and comely companions, it was the perfect kickoff for spring.

Oh, Joan's on 3rd…you NEVER disappoint!

The girls with Lulu, celebrating the loveliest of launches

To bring the spirit of that perfect spring day home, head to Macy’s (where it’s exclusively sold) and pick up the limited edition cosmetics bag and mini clutch, compliments of Clinique, with any Clinique purchase of $27 or more.

After making the difficult decision of palette (pinks or nudes?), look inside to see it filled with your favorites from Clinique. Which ones? Oh, how about Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief, High Impact Mascara, Clinique Colour Compact, Dual-ended Long Last Glosswear and Different Lipstick, and Lulu’s favorite product, Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion.  Lulu says of the cult classic, “This is the first moisturizer I ever bought. My mother introduced me to it. I still carry it around everywhere.”

The situation for spring. Get it while you still can!

And it’s all yours, compliments of Clinique (with $27 purchase).

So, go get your spring on, girls!

Weekend Wanderlust: Kelly Golightly & L*Space Swimwear’s Flamingo Fiesta

What’s better than lounging poolside in Palm Springs on a Saturday afternoon? If you ask me, not much.

That’s why I was delighted to be invited to my friend and fellow blogger, Kelly GoLightly’s & L*Space’s Slim Aarons-inspired Flamingo Fiesta poolside glam event a few Saturdays ago.

A pretty poolside Flamingo Fiesta that would make Slim Aarons proud *Photo by me

Upon entering Kelly’s oh-so-chic and darling desert abode, I was greeted with a Lette flamingo macaron cake…

Venturing a little deeper into the deep end of the party, there were custom Skinny Girl & Nekter Juice Bar cocktails, towels by Tide and Pool, cute custom signs by Our Heiday and festive tablecloths by Elephant Landing.

The BEST part? I was tickled pink to get to wear 2 pieces from L*Space:

The Ruched One Piece (pictured here with my buddy, Swannie, again ($158) – a 70s-reminiscent one piece on just this edge of sexy:

And the Storm Watch romper ($180) – a little class with sass:

L*Space swimsuits & covers were coveted, cocktails were shared, sun was soaked (with sunscreen, of course) and laughter was heard often, as it should be. It was, truly, the perfect poolside fete hosted by our hostess-with-the-mostest, Kelly Golightly.

Thanks, Kelly!

BF Asks: What was your favorite poolside detail from the Flamingo Fiesta hosted by that whiz, Kelly Golightly?

I’M LOVING…La Roche-Posay Anthelios 30 Ultra Light Sunscreen Lotion Spray

During my 2-week vacation in my hometown of Dallas, you’ll see four things in almost every picture of me by the pool:

1) A good book – like Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter ($9.77 on Amazon)

2) OFF Spray to ward off the little vampires in Texas as mosquitoes and chiggers

3) a glass of chilled Sauvignon Blanc

and what I’M LOVING

4) La Roche-Posay Anthelios 30 Ultra Light Sunscreen Lotion Spray ($35.99)

I'M LOVING...La Roche-Posay Anthelios 30 Ultra Light Sunscreen Lotion Spray

I am addicted to the stuff because it makes my skin feel hydrated and silky without feeling greasy or sticky! It does me a solid as its advanced UV filtering system protects against UVA and UVB rays. While its patented Cell-OX Shield nourishes – and further protects – my skin with powerful antioxidants.

So while I played and lounged in the hot Texas sun for hours, I felt like La Roche-Posay Anthelios 30 Ultra Light Sunscreen Lotion Spray was actually doing my skin a service  – and somehow – improving the quality of my skin.

Many times in the past, with other sunscreens, I’ve been left with little bumps or red splotches after continued usage. But not with this pretty product. No way.

My skin glowed and felt softer, smoother and younger after each use.

Another fun bonus? The can sprays in any direction – it can even be upside down and the nozzle still sprays away.

Swoon.

Now, that I’m already almost out, I’m gonna need to go buy another can to get me through the end of summer!

Here’s to a hot & healthy summer, beauties!

Music Monday: Jolie’s Jams – Summer Jamz

I’ve known my friend Jolie since I was 10 years old when she and my big brother dated in their senior year of high school. I thought she was sooooo cool.

Fast forward 25 years and I still think she is the coolest. Jolie introduces me to new music on a monthly basis and – as a lifelong mixmaker – I take her musical suggestions verrry seriously. Through her, I have discovered Dawes, Nick Waterhouse and JD McPherson and many more.

Jolie & me at the Counting Crows show at the Wiltern (top left), at JD McPherson at Troubadour (right) and with Murry Hammond from the Old 97s (bottom left)

She is my favorite friend to go to shows with. In fact, she’s the first person I ask to join me when I’m going to a concert. Why? Because, honey, WE LOVE TO DANCE!!!! And living in Los Angeles, that makes us very rare at shows. Most people just stand there and sometimes somberly move their heads a bit.

So when I tell you that Jolie’s Jams are the best, most eye-opening, music-celebrating playlists, I am not exaggerating. As Music Mondays continue, I’ll also be sharing a few of my hundreds on playlists. But, for now, I introduce you to Jolie’s Jams – SUMMER JAMZ edition.

BF
