BF QOD: Priorities

BF QOD: Priorities

“Never allow someone to be your priority while allowing yourself to be their option.”

(Mark Twain via www.lovequote.com)

BF QOD: Carrie’s Wisdom

I’ll admit it. I’ve been watching A LOT of Sex & The City reruns.

It’s summer, my dvr is lonely and, well, I just love those girls!
So when I heard this quote, I immediately had to share with y’all:

Carrie Bradshaw's Wisdom

“Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging, and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you, you love, well that’s just fabulous.”
(Carrie Bradshaw, SEX & THE CITY)

BF QOD: Maybe a happy ending is just moving on

BF QOD: Maybe a happy ending is just moving on

“And maybe a happy ending doesn’t include a guy. Maybe it’s you, on your own, picking up the pieces, freeing yourself up for something better in the future. Maybe the happy ending is just moving on.”

(From the film, He’s Just Not That Into You)

BF QOD: A Mother’s Advice

My Mom gave me this poem as a gift. And what a gift it was! My favorite quote in the world. Really, a poem.

For more on that, see here: The Best Gift I Ever Received from my Mom: After A While

"After A While" by Veronica A. Shofstall

After A While

(Veronica A. Shoffstall, copyright 1971)

After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul and you learn that love doesn’t mean leaning and company doesn’t always mean security.

And you begin to learn
that kisses aren’t contracts
and presents aren’t promises
and you begin to accept your defeats
with your head up and your eyes ahead
with the grace of woman, not the grief of a child
and you learn
to build all your roads on today
because tomorrow’s ground is
too uncertain for plans
and futures have a way of falling down
in mid-flight.

After a while you learn
that even sunshine burns
if you get too much
so you plant your own garden
and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone
to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure
you really are strong
you really do have worth
and you learn
and you learn
with every goodbye, you learn…
